A couple will tie the knot at Richmond Register Office this Valentine’s Day.
Terry Coady, 59, and Sushma Kande, 46 will hold a civil service at the intimate Georgian site in Spring Terrace on Tuesday, February 14.
On getting married on the most romantic day of the year, Miss Kande said: “We wanted to make it something special.
“I don’t think either of us thought we would find a partner at such a late age but we found each other - and we just knew it was right.
“I think Valentine’s Day is wonderful and it’s great to keep the day alive.”
The couple will be marrying after a whirlwind romance lasting just nine months.
Miss Kande said: “We met at a bus stop when it was pouring down with rain. I was eating a pack of Haribos and Terry just kept staring at me – I thought he wanted a sweet.
“I offered him one and he said ‘you’re all right’. Then I just kept bumping into him on the bus all the time and it just happened from there.”
Loaded with a takeaway and movie marathon for the perfect night-in, Mr Coady went down on one knee to propose.
He said: “I’ve never been married before and this one took my heart over a bloody sweet. She’s the only woman for me and I can’t wait to marry her.”
