One young mother has found a novel way to boost her marathon fundraising efforts, by launching her very own risqué calendar.

Natalie Byrne, 31, of Shacklegate Lane, Teddington, gathered a group of brave friends to have their photos taken everywhere from pub kitchens to mechanics’ garages to create the Lil Miss 2012 charity calendar.

Money raised from the sale of the £10 calendar will go toward Ms Byrne’s fundraising target of £2,150, which she will donate to the Shooting Star children’s hospice after completing the London Marathon for them in April 2012.

Mum-of-two Ms Byrne said: “I’m doing the London marathon on April 22 as I’m one of the gold band runners for Shooting Star Chase hospice.

“I’ve set up my Just Giving page and also done the calendar and I’ve sold lots of them already – there’s a picture for every month of me and my family and close friends, nine of us together, with just some individual and group shots of us in provocative poses, like January is miss mechanic, for example, and February is miss butcher.”

But it is not just Ms Byrne’s friends who have rallied round to support her fundraising efforts, the whole community, including many local businesses, including the Red Lion pub and AG Millers Butchers, offered their premises to provide backdrops.

Local printer Dinesh Bhatt, who owns the Letter Press, also got onboard, offering to print 100 calendars for free to help Ms Byrne maximise donations and photographer Rhianne McCallum chipped in by taking photos.

Ms Byrne said: “People have really gone out of their way.

“It is amazing, such a nice feeling to know that people are there willing to help.”

And, despite the organisation required to set up the calendar, Ms Byrne has also found time to start training for the 26.5m London Marathon on Sunday, April 22.

The energetic mother said: “I’ve never really been into fitness at all. I’m a young single mum and it is hard to find the time.

“But I started running 5km for charity and just thought you know what, ‘other people can do it’ and it is something to aim for and doing it for the Shooting Star hospice makes it that much more worthwhile.”
