POLICE are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a war memorial plaque that was stolen from Lewisham High Street.

The theft was reported on October 20 and on the plaque there were the names of those who died during the Great War.

Despite extensive enquiries to locate the memorial it has not been found.

The plaque was of great historical and emotional value to friends and relatives of the fallen soldiers.

Two people have been charged with the theft.

Lana Clitheroe, aged 42, of Dundalk Road, Brockley has been charged with theft and is due to appear at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on November 22.

Paul David Kelly, from Pagnell Street in New Cross has also been charged with theft. The 42-year-old is due to appear at Greenwich Magistrates Court on December 20.
