A FORMER sex education teacher faces being struck off after regulators heard about his double life as a stripper and porn star.

Benedict Garrett, 31, was head of citizenship at Beal High School in Woodford Bridge Road until students discovered a website advertising his services as a stripper and ‘naked butler’ for private dinner parties.

He is currently facing a disciplinary panel of the general teaching council over allegations of unacceptable professional conduct, and admitted he expected to be struck off the teaching register.

He said: “I’m grateful to have been able to put my point of view across.

“I think it’s most likely that I will be struck off the register, but I think I have put forward a strong argument.

“I’m not here to deny the facts, I admit to doing pornography and stripping.

“My point of view is that not everyone agrees that pornography is wrong.”

The charges he faces include performing as a stripper in a public place, undertaking work of a pornographic nature and owning a website which contained details of his work as a stripper.

He worked at the school for nearly three years before he resigned in July last year – teaching personal, social and health education as well as French and German at GCSE level.

He is also accused of inappropriately communicating with year 10 students via text, email and Facebook, and that he left inappropriate messages on the voice mail of an associate head-teacher.

Mr Garrett, who now lives in Manchester, still works in the adult entertainment industry under the name Johnny Anglaise.

He said: “If teachers are supposed to be role models, why do we allow them to smoke?

“Smoking is directly linked to thousands of deaths every year. I don’t know of any deaths that pornography has directly caused.

“I know not everyone will agree with me, but I have had messages of support from all over the world.

“I still have some friends among the staff and students at the school, and they have wished me well.”

The case continues.
