A woman has lost faith in the police after they failed to act when she was brutally beaten by thugs in her neighbourhood.

The 34-year-old mum-of-one, who will be referred to as Jane, required hospital treatment after she was repeatedly kicked in the head as she lay cowering on the ground.

The unprovoked attack took place outside Dallas Pizza in Ordnance Road in Enfield, north London, at about 5.30pm on August 7.

Jane, an administrator, claims police failed to attend the scene, or even visit her at home. She visited Enfield Town police station the next day to report the crime, but claims she was given short shrift.

She is planning to take her complaint to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) and Enfield North MP Joan Ryan has taken up her case.

She said: "The day after I was attacked, I decided to head to Enfield Town police station to report what had happened. I was still in a state of shock, but the officer's attitude was that he didn't seem to care.

"Since then I have one phone call from the police, but that's it. I just feel completely left on my own to get on with it."

Dog trapped her in shop

Jane's ordeal began when she drove a short distance to the local takeaway, Dallas Pizza, after work.

She said: "I pulled up outside and spotted two youths with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

"I'm frightened of dogs, so I politely asked them to put the dog on a leash so I could go into the shop, but they just stared swearing at me.

"I decided to ignore them and brave the walk, but they followed me in and started shouting again.

"I was frightened, so I asked the staff to call the police, but they refused. Then one of the boys said he was going to get his girlfriend to come down and 'kick my head in'.

"The dog was outside and I was trapped in the shop. There were also four other men present, but no one helped."

Minutes later Jane, who is a petite 4ft 11 ins, and weighs 7st 7lbs, was subjected to a horrifying attack in front of bystanders.

She was beaten up by the girl in the street, who punched her to the ground and repeatedly kicked her in the head.

Jane said: "It was ferocious. She beat me, walked away, then came back a second time to knock me back to the ground. I was curled up on the floor shaking."

Jane was rescued by a passer-by and taken to nearby Chase Farm Hospital by ambulance, where she has since returned for follow-up treatment.

Jane said: "I was always a very confident, secure and active person, but since the attack, I won't step out of doors after I come home from work.

"My life has completely changed in the last few weeks and that has made me feel very depressed."

Supt Stuart Rivers of Enfield Police said: "I take all allegations of crime, particularly crimes of violence, very seriously and we are committed to making Enfield safer.

"This matter is being investigated by the borough's Criminal Investigation Department and we will be taking all steps to trace and identify the suspects."

Police describe the girl who attacked Jane as white, 5ft 6ins tall, wearing a grey velour hooded top and low cut jogging bottoms.

The two males are described as being around 18-years-old and of eastern European origin.

The first was around 5ft 7ins tall, with untidy hair, a moustache and hazel colour eyes. He wore a red tracksuit, red T-Shirt with 'Albania' on the front and a black and red baseball cap.

The second is described as 5ft 7ins tall, wearing a grey hooded top, grey T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.
