Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman showed off a different kind of swing when he was crowned top celebrity player at a charity golf day.

Judge Len beat fellow Strictly star Anton Du Beke into second place at the event at Burhill Golf Club in Hersham, which raised money for the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.

Other contestants included cricketer Geoff Arnold, comedian Bobby Davro, ITV’s face of football Clive Tyldesley and DJ Spoony.

It was hosted by long-time supporter of the hospice John Inverdale.

Following the golf, there was entertainment from the Nigel Bagge band and an auction, where people bid for Wimbledon quarter final tickets and a trip to a luxury villa in Portugal.

The hospice is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Julie Thomas, head of supporter development at the hospice, said: “The charity’s 25th anniversary celebrations are now in full swing and the wonderful golf event raised £16,000.

“We are grateful to all the celebrities who have given up their time and to John Inverdale for his support of the event from its very conception. He hosted the initial corporate breakfast and thanks to him, our volunteers and the wonderful team at Burhill Golf Club, we are closer to the aim of creating a patient focused therapeutic and spiritual care garden.”
