Union members from South Thames College took part in a national day of action across further, adult and higher education last week.
On March 24, lively picket lines were held at Wandsworth, Tooting and Merton campuses of the college by University and Colleges Union members, with representatives from Battersea & Wandsworth Trades Council and Wandsworth Against the Cuts campaigns also supporting.
More than 100,000 UCU members in 500 universities and colleges took strike action in defence of their pensions, jobs and pay.
Angie Birtill, Branch Organiser for the UCU, said: “Our members proudly stood up for education yesterday and received overwhelming support from students and the public on our picket lines."
“Other trade unions praised UCU for taking the lead in opposing public sector cut backs."
A statement from South Thames College said:” On Thursday March 24 the University and College Union (UCU) called a national strike affecting institution across the country.
"South Thames College remained open and there was minimal disruption to College services.”
