Investigations are continuing after an historic house in a conservation area was demolished, allegedly without permission.

The 19th century house in Trafalgar Road, Twickenham, was flattened, apparently without the necessary permission from Richmond Council, on January 7.

A council spokesman said investigations into the demolition were continuing this week, as the council gathered information to decide whether legal action should be taken.

The owner of the house, John Johnson, apologised for the distress the destruction of the house had caused to his neighbours last week, and said he intended to rebuild it as soon as possible.
