A much-criticised company at the centre of a bridal shop controversy has officially gone into liquidation, it emerged this week.

Company’s House confirmed Bridal Group Ltd – the umbrella company for Bella Sposa in Epsom and Infinita Brides in Caterham, which is owned by Lee Middleton – was dissolved on January 6.

Mr Middleton was first exposed by the Epsom Guardian in November last year for allegedly leaving a number of brides-to-be out of pocket.

Brides claimed he messed up orders, did not return their calls and supplied them with damaged products – all of which Mr Middleton repeatedly denied, initially blaming a group of “problem customers” for the complaints.

Jemma Chandler, who is due to be married in May, said she was supplied with the wrong-sized dress, which was also damaged.

She said: “Dealing with Lee Middleton has been a disaster.

“I have accepted the dress, because I don’t have enough time to re-order another one before the wedding, but it is going to cost me money to modify it.”

Mr Middleton denied Miss Chandler’s claims.

He said: “Infinita Brides states the dress was as per the customer’s order and in the correct size and was tried on by the customer upon delivery.

“The customer does require alterations in the bust area, which she was made aware of upon order. The dress is a matter of 2in on the bust, how on earth can this be two sizes too big?”

Darren McGrane, who is in the process of taking Mr Middleton to a civil court after he was left with the wrong suits on his wedding day, said: “I still don’t think this will be much help to all of the brides.

“I think it helps him more than it helps them, but I hope I’m wrong.”

Mr Middleton was unavailable for comment on the liquidation.
