A care home in Clapham has been visited by the latest in a long line of famous faces.

Acclaimed actor, Timothy West delighted the residents and staff of Nightingale, in Nightingale Lane, when he spoke about his career at the home last week.

He told of his time spent working in a theatre company which once performed forty five different plays in a year, as well as staring in the popular TV series Edward VII.

After sharing tea with some of the residents, West said: “I really do enjoy performing on Television, it has become a young person’s medium so you do need to show that you have a TV presence otherwise people won’t have heard of you.”

Chief executive of Nightingale, Leon Smith, said: “Timothy’s insight into his vibrant acting career charmed all the residents, who thoroughly enjoyed hearing about his work as King Edward Vll.”

Celebrities recently spotted at the home include David Baddiel, Michael Palin, Stephen Fry, Rolf Harris, Maureen Lipman, Ian Hislop, Ann Widdecombe and Alastair McGowan.
