A 14-year-old boy who sexually assaulted a class mate has been sentenced to a 12 month supervision order.

The boy appeared at Croydon Youth Court today (Friday) after being found guilty of sexual assault in August.

The court heard how the boy and his classmate had been locked in a classroom after school finished to complete a school project.

The defendent, after a few minutes alone, exposed himself in the classroom and shortly after that grabbed the boy and put his hand down his trousers, fondling him.

Judge Robert Hunter said: "The teachers weren't aware they had been locked in.

"The teacher who locked the door assumed it was open.

"It is clear from the victim statement the claimant suffered a great deal of humiliation from this."

The court heard how the attack stopped when another pupil, also in the room, stopped the boy from assaulting the other boy further.

The defendent was ordered to pay £250 costs, £250 compensation to the victim and was ordered to take part in a 12 month supervision order, a youth rehabilitation order, as well as taking part in a programme for sexual offenders.

Judge Hunter said the compensation did not: "Reflect the distress and humiliation" the victim suffered."
