A father-of-three was murdered in Enfield on Saturday night after being attacked "during a shocking outbreak of unnecessary violence" as he ordered food at a Chinese takeaway.

Akim Oriola, 24, from Enfield, was at the Village Bar restaurant in Hoe Lane at around 10.45pm when he became involved in an argument with another customer.

The fight spilled into the street where Mr Oriola was beaten up by his assailant, sustaining serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Chase Farm Hospital in The Ridgeway, but died at 2pm on Sunday. A post mortem examination carried out on Tuesday showed he died of a head injury.

Mr Oriola, who was unemployed and sometimes went by the name Akim Olurunmi , was father of a two-month-old baby boy, a two-year-old boy, and a three-year-old girl, with his long-term partner, who has not been named by police.

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Wood Green on Monday and questioned in relation to the incident. He was later released on bail until August 17.

A second man was arrested yesterday and was still being questioned by officers at a north London police station at the time of going to press.

Det Chief Insp Mark Kandiah said: "Mr Oriola was in the Village Bar Chinese takeaway ordering a meal when it appears he became involved in an altercation with another customer. This was a shocking outbreak of wholly unnecessary violence that has robbed three children of their father."

Officers believe it was a one-sided attack and said Mr Oriola did not appear to hit back at his assailant, who was said to be black. There was no indication from witnesses that any weapons were involved.

A staff member at the take away, who did not wish to be named, said: "We did not know what had happened because it was so busy. We believe it was the first time Mr Oriola had been here, and we are obviously very sorry."

An inquest into Mr Oriola's death was due to open today at Hornsey Coroners' Court.
