Trustees of the Crest fire fund, to support victims of the Madingley fire, are drawing up plans for a voucher scheme to help residents.
The fund has now raised £6,000, including more than £2,000 from an indie night at the Hippodrome nightclub last month. organised by Banquet Records.
Former Kingston mayor Ed Naylor, a trustee of the fund, said each of the 57 families could be given vouchers worth about £100 to help them buy supermarket items when they set up their homes again.
He said the fund was currently researching which store would provide the best deal, and was keen to get feedback from residents about whether a voucher scheme was the best way to distribute the money.
He said: “We are looking at the money we have got to provide a welcome back to Madingley from the people of Kingston and the estate.
“We would want to express our deepest thanks to all the people of Kingston who have so generously supported this fire fund.”
