A pedestrian suffered serious head injuries after a car smashed into the back of another vehicle as she gave directions to the driver.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was standing by the driver’s side door of a blue Peugeot 207, in the Windfield, Leatherhead, at about 12.45pm on Saturday, when a black Toyota Yaris crashed into it.

The Toyota shunted the Peugeot forward, causing the pedestrian to lose her balance and fall over.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “The female pedestrian sustained a serious head injury and was removed from the scene to St George’s Hospital, in Tooting, where she remains in a serious condition.”

Surrey Police has appealed for any witnesses to call the collision investigation unit on 0148 3639 922.
