RESIDENTS being offered cut price CCTV by cold callers should seek advice before allowing them through their front doors, Colchester Council has said.
Concerns had been raised this week about companies falsely claiming to be endorsed by the council who categorically denied this was the case.
Since the Gazette highlighted the issue a number of elderly homeowners have spoken about being contacted by a company offering them security from just £1 a week.
Tim Young, councillor in charge of community safety and housing, said people should not sign up for anything and avoid inviting such companies into their homes.
