POPULAR Eighties band The Beat are headlining this year's annual Enfield Autumn Show - which is now in its 57th year.

The fusion ska and reggae band are one of a mix of performers at Enfield's biggest community event which will also feature more traditional horticultural and craft attractions at Enfield's Town Park next weekend.

Councillor Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council's cabinet member for youth, leisure, culture and Olympics, said: "Without a doubt this is a weekend that brings together arts, entertainment, fun for children and families and celebrates the talents of local people.

"With stalls, information and details about local activities, the Enfield Autumn Show is an unmissable weekend in the life of our borough."

Also performing will be London-based performer and songwriter Kate Carr, Ninja folk band Victor Menace, West African and electro-pop band AJ Holmes and the Hackney Empire and boogie blues artist Toby Barelli known as King Size Slim.

Farm animals from the Wellgate Community Farmyard will be on display and there will be a horticultural marquee with a selection of crafts, flowers, vegetables and cooking. Entries will be on display throughout each day and will be judged by experts. Prizes will be presented to the winners at the end of the weekend.

The event takes place on September 4 and 5 from 10.30am to 6pm at Town Park, Enfield. Entry is £3 for adults and £2 for concessions and free for children under 16.
