FRENCH visitors joined Lane End residents in celebrating ten years of twinning.
The village has enjoyed a decade of twinning with the island St Pierre d’Oleron and invited guests for a weekend of celebrations.
Children from the island, off the French west coast, spent a day at Lane End Primary School on Friday and were joined by their parents for a reception in the evening.
They introduced residents to the ‘taste of lle d’Oleron’ at the village fete on Sautrday and visited attractions including Chinnor Steam Railway Station on Sunday.
Wycombe MP Steve Baker welcomed the visitors and honoured the work of Lane End Twinning Association.
Organiser Andrew MacTavish said the two groups arranged at least one visit each year.
“There have been many friendships that have been formed,” he said.
“They have loved coming here – it is totally different, a different culture and a different landscape.”
Patrick Moquay, Mayor of St Pierre d’Oleron, said: “Many people from St Pierre have come back and back and back, they are really friends with the Lane End people.”
