HALF of shoppers who volunteered to be weighed in Enfield Town last week were found to be obese.

Sixty visitors to the All About W8 roadshow, held at Palace Gardens Shopping Centre last Saturday, stepped up to the scales to donate money to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

Of the shoppers that had their body mass index (BMI) checked, 50 per cent were classed as obese, with a BMI of 30 or more.

BMI uses a formula to calculate someone's body fat according to their weight and height.

For each check that was done, All About W8 donated £1 to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

Lynn Mattai, who runs the Enfield All About W8 consultancy, said: “The roadshow was a great success and we are delighted that it raised valuable funds for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

"Having a healthy BMI is very important as it can help to prevent the development of weight-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes."

All About W8 uses a combination of Mealpaks and healthy foods to help its clients lose weight.
