Cat lovers could soon get a chance to bring their pets to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney.

Pets As Therapy (PATS), a national charity which brings animals to hospitals and carehomes to help patients, has been running at the Hospital since 1989.

Up to now only dogs have been allowed, but thoughts about expanding the scheme are being considered to include cats.

Twice a week local resident Veronica Williams-Ellis and dog Madge visit the hospital, and Madge is a particular favourite of Betty’s (pictured) Before dogs are allowed to join PAT they must undergo an assessment to check they have the correct temperament.

The cats will also have to be assessed but it is unsure how they will react to patients.
