AN EAGLE-EYED shopper spotted a careless spelling mistake on a road sign in Lewisham High Street.
Yee Shun Fung, of Courthill Road, Hither Green, was enjoying some spring retail therapy when she noticed a rather peculiar spelling of the word 'central' on a roundabout sign outside Beaumont Beds.
The 26-year-old law student said: "I bet the people who made the sign make more money than me - and I can spell!"
A 'cental' is in fact a unit of weight measurement equal to 100 pounds or 43.6kg.
A spokesman for Transport for London, which is responsible for road signs in that street, said: "TfL is arranging for the mistake to be rectified in the next week."
