Only customers

Sir Having bought The Oxford Times today, I turned to page seven and to my amazement under item Reprieve for North Oxford bus route it clearly states that the number 16 route (Oxford City to Minchery Farm) will also remain unchanged. I and I'm sure many other residents of Minchery Farm wish that this was true.

We have all now been informed that Stagecoach will be taking over this bus service from the beginning of June.

Having 'phoned both bus companies concerned, they have duly confirmed what I've been told. There are many, many rumours flying around concerning the change of this service and I'm sure that I speak not only for myself, but many others, when I say that we are all very concerned about what is happening.

From what I understand, Oxfordshire County Council is insisting that the 16 bus runs back along the Abingdon Road both ways. It is a proven fact that the buses cannot keep to the timetables because of the congestion on the Abingdon Road. Why can't the people who make these decisions actually use these services and they would find out for themselves what is happening. But there again, these people in their cosy offices don't think about these things because they are content in the knowledge that they don't need, or rely on, these services.

Perhaps it is time that bus services were actually run to help the people who give them their profits. But hey, we are only the paying customers!
