A HAIRDRESSER whose business empire is based in Radlett has been named the London Hairdresser of the Year.
Akin Konizi, who owns Hob chain of salons, won the coveted prize on Monday at the 2005 British Hairdressing Awards. Akin joins past winners such as Trevor Sorbie, Nicky Clarke, Beverly C and Charles Worthington.
Akin said: "The saying third time lucky' is very apt. This is my third year as a finalist in this category and it is such an honour to win. I am delighted to share this award with my partners, my wife, my staff and our clients."
To win, Akin had to submit a collection of photographs that demonstrated his expertise in all aspects of hairdressing. Akin has ten salons, including one in Bushey. Akin also runs a training centre at the Radlett headquarters.
