TURNING your garden into a haven for wildlife is not as hard as people might think.
Bexley Council has teamed up with the North West Kent Countryside Project to produce a free information pack on to how to attract wildlife without turning your pride and joy into an overgrown jungle.
Tips include how to improve ponds, home composting, building nest and bat boxes and planting to attract butterflies and other wildlife.
People can also enter their gardens for the Kent Wildlife Trust's wildlife gardening competition, which is open to all residents, community groups and schools.
Among the things the judges will be looking for is how attractive and welcoming the garden is, the variety of plants providing food and refuge for wildlife all year round and sensitive use of natural resources.
The deadline for entry is May 31.
For a free pack or a competition entry form, call Mark Taylor on 020 8303 7777 ext 3587.
