Working to help wildlife

A WILDLIFE corridor is being established from Beckenham all the way to West Wickham.

Last weekend saw residents, businesses, schools and groups from around Beckenham come together to help with the first step in the Greening the Beck Corridor project.

The groups planted more than 2,000 wildflowers in three sections of the verges on Foxgrove Road, Beckenham.

The aim is to involve people in creating a wildlife corridor to run through the borough, with the first phase concentrating on the area between Beckenham Place Park and Kelsey Park.

Bromley project officer Guy Harewood said: "The project aims to encourage thought about the value of the area around Beckenham and the River Beck for biodiversity.

"The challenges our wildlife faces in Bromley's urban and rural areas are many.

"By simply installing a nest box or planting wildlife-friendly species you can make a great difference."
