GREEN fingered residents who asked for more time to recycle have been granted their request by the council.
The Barrowell Green recycling centre, in Winchmore Hill, which takes a range of household waste including batteries, fridges, plasterboard and scrap metal, will open until 7.30pm from its usual closing time of 4.15pm.
The extended hours will come in from April 2 to September 30, on Tuesdays and Fridays every week.
Enfield Council said the decision was based on feedback from a residents’ survey when respondents said they would like longer nights at Barrowell Green during the summer so they can use the site after work.
Environment cabinet member Terry Neville said: “We have listened and acted.”
