A FAMILY have paid tribute to a former Wycombe man who died in a car accident on the A40 near Oxford on Mothering Sunday.

Kiel Campbell, 23, who more recently lived in Grenbille Close, Burnham, died and three others were injured in the accident.

The silver Renault Clio carrying four men was heading eastbound on the A40 when it hit the central reservation barrier between Forest Hill and Wheatley junction at 4.20am on Sunday. Mr Campbell was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital, but later died from multiple injuries.

Kiel lived with his mum, Jackie Campbell, who said her son will be “greatly missed and never forgotten.”

She said: “He adored his nephew Brandon who is three. They would play fight together all the time and Kiel was teaching him how to look after himself.”

He also leaves behind three sisters called Jemma, 32, Jodie, 27 and Martine, 25, who is Brandon's mum.

Martine, who lives in Taplow, is expecting another baby boy on April 26. She said: “He was really excited about it. He wanted to be there when I went into labour.”

Arsenal supporter Kiel also wanted to give Jemma away at her wedding in Barbados in June.

Jackie added: “He was a real gentleman and always had a smile on his face. People always said how polite and well mannered he was. He would never be rude no matter what race or colour.”

Kiel grew up in Cressex Road, High Wycombe and went to Shelburne First School, Lansdowne Primary School and Cressex Community School.

He moved with his family to Swindon in 2001 where he trained to be a bricklayer and in 2005 the family moved to Burnham.

Jackie added: “They always said he was very good at what he did. He found out what he was good at and he was a hard worker”

Kiel, who's nickname was Scramble, was constructing a wall in Pinewood Road, High Wycombe.

Jackie said she wanted to warn others to always wear a seatbelt as Kiel was not wearing one when the accident happened. She said: “I hope it will make other people think. This could have been avoided basically.”

When he was growing up he played for Wycombe Lions and was a big football fan who enjoyed playing on his X box.

Jemma, from High Wycombe, added: “He always had a lot of friends around him. He would make friends really easily.

“There was always a story with Kiel. Wherever he went trouble found him.”

Friend Darryl Mann,23, who grew up with Kiel added: “He was happy, hard working and always trying to do the best for everyone. He loved his family to bits and we will all miss him.”

The funeral is at Slough Crematorium on Thursday March 25 at 2.30pm. Flowers are welcome but if wellwishers would prefer, donations will be appreciated towards Brandon's trust fund.
