Council advertises for stadium project officer

WYCOMBE District Council has signalled its intention on mooted proposals for a new stadium by advertising for a stadium planning project officer.

The successful applicant would be awarded a fixed term contract until July 2012 and earn between £38,655 and £44, 378 per year, with a “generous benefits package” and “final salary pension scheme.”

The covering documents state the project officer would “contribute at senior professional level to the development of sound planning policy for the delivery of a new stadium” and “lead policy drafting and day-to-day running of the stadium project”.

Other responsibilities include “the coordination of consultants and evidence gathering and adherence to both the defined timetable and to local and statutory procedures.”

The job advert is posted on the council's website (click link below).

Council cabinet members last month approved a major £500,000 consultation that could see its planning policy changed to permit a new stadium.

Wycombe Air Park is thought to be a preferred choice for the stadium, which would re-house Wycombe Wanderers and London Wasps.

The council will put cash into building the stadium and have a stake in its ownership.

What a waste of money!
~
They would be better advertising for someone to sell Wycombe as a business location and get some of the empty shops that blight the town centre filled....

Blimey! 38 to 44k, generous benefits package and final salary pension scheme all to administer something that doesn't interest me one iota and seems yet to be still in the planning stage with 500 grand set aside for consultation. Never mind, having spent my statutory minimum redundancy payment I now qualify for council tax benefit so I should consider myself fortunate. Wonder what the generous benefits package will be?
Free parking perhaps?
I feel peeved by this!

Thought the councilwas "cashstrapped" and desperate for money?

All of a sudden they can afford to give someone 38-44k + gen benefits.

If they can afford that, then perhaps they can lend BCC some money to FIX THE BLOODY ROADS

Don't worry, elections in May, then we can get a fresh bunch. Nice to know Ms Clarke was happy with the council tax increase! Can't say I was!

Do WDC really believe that moving Wycombe Wanderers and Wasps up to Booker will bring in revenue for the town? I can't see anyone bothering to travel down into the town to do any shopping before OR after a match, they'll just jump on their coaches or in their cars and get back onto the motorway from whence they came. It's a criminal waste of tax payers money on a PRIVATE venture. How much is Mr Hayes putting into this project? Perhaps he doesn't want to tell us everything huh?

Why don't football and rugby fans pay for the stadium?
.
Why should council taxpayers who, for example, prefer tennis, foot the bill?

Steve Hayes is already rubbing his hands in glee and will be laughing all the way to the bank.
~
Watch out for the demise of Wycombe Wanderers to non-league football and then they won't be allowed to use the stadium because the numbers of supports won't warrant it!

London Wasps Stadium, here we come.

BFP please check to see if the person who gets the job of project officer has any connection with Steve Hayes or any local councillors.

Any sign of Hayes giving councillors more "sweeteners"? (Previous "presents" already reported, true and common kowledge. There may be others that we don't know about.)

Election day coming soon! Is any other party actively campaigning against this stadium? Or are they all as bad as each other?

I met the Lib Dems at Adams Park a week ago.
They were asking questions of WW supporters
Seems Lid Dems are questioning the the stadium move and why WDC residents should be paying for it !!!

Well done -- the Lib Dems --you have my vote :-)

It would be awfully interesting to know if the "redundancy" of the the PR representative and subsequent amalgamation of "Communications (tee hee) Director"ate had anything to do with the release of enough money to employ one of HM Clarke's mates?
Just what the hell is going on?
Surely this can't be local government.
It's like Uganda under Amin.

Elections in May are for our local MP, not for WDC. We have to wait for 2011 to vote this lot out.

Before then opposition parties need to be given all the support they can get in order to take on the might of the Bucks Tories and their military like election machine and show them the Wycombe residents default Tory setting is not to be taken for granted.

This decision was made a long time ago and thats why it was a part of the councils key documents - which highlight the priorities of councils. Someone at the council must have been paid a handsome sum to include the stadium which benefits a small number in such a key document

The Sustainable Community Strategy (previously called a Community Plan) outlines an ambitious and exciting future for the Wycombe district to 2026.

The strategy is structured around five common themes which reflect the views and needs if residents in communities across Bucks, they are:

Thriving economy
Sustainable environment
Safe commmunities
Health and wellbeing
Cohesive and strong communities

Have you read the Wycombe Sustainable Community Strategy, dated Sep 2009?

See link below but in short it is mentioned on page 8 - (Summary of key challenges in 2009)- Providing a new stadium to meet the needs of our football and rugby clubs and the local community.

LOL my mistake... it is funnier than that.
Guy, as normal, sitting on the fence...
the wasps are a good thing for the town but wanderers have a long history.
In other words, he will make his mind up once he is sure what is more popular and will get more votes.

Numpty.
