Cat charity appeals to BFP readers

A CAT rescue charity has appealed to Bucks Free Press readers for donations to care for one of its star patients.

Daisy was dumped outside one of the Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue centres in October last year, and was in such a bad state staff were worried she wouldn't last the night.

She is now making good progress – but because she has three bandaged legs which need redressing every three days the charity is struggling to find enough money to pay for treatment.

The rescue charity says it will not put down any animal put into its care that has a chance of a reasonable quality of life.

Cindy Bailey, a volunteer with Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue, said: “It only takes a very sick cat like Daisy to have a devastating impact on our finances.

“This treatment over the last few months has cost the charity many hundreds of pounds and remains a major drain on our financial resources.

“Whilst this is the case this is what the charity is all about and we do not put animals down which have any chance of a reasonable quality of life.

“If any readers feel they can help us with the cost of this treatment we would be so grateful.

“There will be more cats like ‘Daisy’ but as long as we have the resources we will continue to help sick and/or abused animals to the best of our ability.”

For more information on the charity, or if you would like to adopt, foster or sponsor any of the cats, call Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue on 01494 715345.

I am all for charities to help the needy etc. However why cannot a few vets get together to give back some FREE vet care to needy animals in their area once in a while, afterall they charge the earth when it comes to collecting your bill/invoices from them. Or is it they are in it for the big BUCKS if you pardon the pun ????
