A mum and her two young children were threatened with a knife and what was believed to be a gun in Chiswick, police said.
The 27-year-old mum and her children were walking along an alleyway between Alexandra Gardens and Duke's Meadows when they were approached by two men, at about noon last Friday.
The men demanded the woman's money and mobile phone and threatened her with a knife and what she believed was a pistol.
The mum managed to run away with her children, leaving the pair empty handed.
One of the suspects was white, about 23 years ol, and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in tall.
He had short dark hair and was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a black jacket with a reflective material stripe.
The other man was black, aged between 19 and 20 years old, and about 5ft 8in tall.
He was wearing a dark, dirty, green coloured jacket and blue trousers and had dark braided hair.
