Burglars who broke into a house and attacked the homeowner made off with just £10 from a young girl's savings.

Three men broke into a house, in Foxearth Road, Selsdon, on Monday, February 1.

At 10.10pm the burglars entered the house and made their way upstairs where the man and woman were asleep in the room next to their daughter.

While one burglar stayed downstairs, the other two punched the man and threatened him with a knife, demanding money from him.

He told them there was no money and the burglars proceeded to go through the girl’s bedroom and took £10 in cash.

The suspects also took two mobile phones from the man and woman. The third suspect is said to have remained downstairs the whole time.

One of the suspects is described as a light-skinned black man in his late teens or early 20s, 5ft 2ins tall, slim build and wearing a grey top with grey tracksuit bottoms and a white scarf or hanky covering his face.

The second suspect is described as man in his late teens or early 20s, 6ft tall with black braided hair in a “cane-roll” style and wearing a dark hooded top.

DC Ian Stone from Croydon CID said: “This was a terrifying experience for a young family.

"I’m appealing for anyone who may have seen anything on the night, but perhaps more importantly, anyone who may have seen men of this description in the week leading up to this incident.
