Edgware Town are out of debt.

Chairman Anthony Rosier announced the good news this week, and declared that the club can now go on to win the Ryman League Division Two championship.

Mr Rosier said Edgware had come out of company voluntary arrangements four years early.

And with a new £250,000 clubhouse to be opened soon, things are at last looking up for the Wares, who will be financially solvent for the first time in five years.

Back in April, Mr Rosier had promised fans that he would be staying with the club and would clear all debts by the start of this coming season. He also announced he would be providing more money for players.

Speaking this week, Mr Rosier added: "With a big budget for players, winning the league will be well within our grasp."

The Wares finished last season on a high. They were in bottom place for a long period, but won the team of the month award in May for a run that took them to a third-from-bottom finish. They also thumped bottom club Clapton 10-0 in one of the most remarkable games of the season.

The new clubhouse at the White Lion Ground, which will be hired out for weddings and other social functions, will provide a valuable source of income. Mr Rosier admitted that all the club now needed was for more fans to come through the turnstiles.

Tenants Wealdstone FC are again due to start next season at the White Lion Ground.

The Stones had hoped to move into a new stadium at the Prince Edward Playing Fields in Canons Park, but there is uncertainty surrounding the move.
