THIEVES have stolen two grand pianos from a St Albans church.
The culprits made off with the valuable instruments just hours after they had been delivered to the United Reformed Church in Homewood Road.
The incident happened sometime between 12.30pm on Sunday, January 31, and 3.30pm on Monday, February 1.
Investigating officer DC Andy Boyer said: “The two stolen pianos were extremely large and would have needed a number of people to manoeuvre them out of the building and into a lorry or van.
“Specialist equipment may also have been needed to remove them from the building and load them onto a vehicle.
"I am therefore appealing for witnesses who may have seen any suspicious behaviour or vehicles in the area during the specified times to get in contact as soon as possible."
He added: “I would also be interested to speak to anyone who may have been offered a grand piano for sale.”
Anyone with information can contact DC Boyer on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222 citing crime reference number F1/10/429 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
