A man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition last night after being attacked on a busy Streatham Hill street.
Police were called at 10.45pm to Streatleigh Parade, opposite Streatham Hill station, to reports of a man being robbed.
On arrival officers found a man with serious head injuries.
London Ambulance Service took him to hospital where he is still in intensive care.
His injuries are not though to be life threatening.
A police spokesman said police were keeping an open mind as to what had happened.
It is understood the victim is known to police.
A witness said he had seen two white teenage boys rummaging through the victims pockets as he lay on the ground before running off.
The street, along with part of Leigham Court Road, was cordoned off last night as police searched the area for clues.
Police are still investigating.
