Man shot in head in sign shop raid

ARMED men shot a man in the head during a daylight raid of a sign shop last Friday.

Three men went into Daylight Signs, suppliers of materials for signmaking, in Alma Road, Ponders End, at about 4.10pm and demanded that staff hand over their wage packets.

A man in his 50s was taken to Chase Farm hospital with a minor head wound after the gun went off. He has now been released.

Another man, also aged in his 50s, was hit over the head with the gun.

Staff have been left severely shaken by the attack, did not hand over any money to the men.

An off-duty police officer from Haringey police, who was passing by, arrested one of the men, who has now been charged. Two men Flying Squad detectives are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the other two.

Investigating Officer DC Andy Terry said: "There was a lot of commotion outside the venue, which is likely to have attracted the attention of members of public in the area. I ask anyone with information about this incident to contact us."
