POLICE are looking for a taxi driver who came to the rescue of a woman who was being attacked by two men.

A 32-year-old woman was assaulted in the area of Desborough Road, High Wycombe just after midnight this morning.

The victim was looking for her keys in her handbag at her front door, when she was attacked from behind by two men.

A taxi driver stopped and scared the attackers away by shouting at them from his cab. He then took the woman to Wycombe Hospital.

The victim has described the taxi as a dark coloured saloon and the driver as an Asian man in his 40s.

Det Constable Claire Reed from Wycombe CID, said: “The woman received facial injuries and we believe the attackers were trying to rob her.

“The taxi driver is not a suspect in this case, but an absolutely vital witness and we need to speak to him urgently.”

If you are the taxi driver or know who may be call 08458505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.

Police are not currently disclosing the exact location of the attack as this could identify the victim.

That description could be anybody but perhaps a first port of call should be Premier Taxi as they are based down Desborough Road
