A group of four men attacked a homeless man so brutally he was hospitalised with facial fractures.
Police are hunting the attackers after they punched and kicked a man on board a train to Victoria early on Sunday January 17.
Detectives have released images of four men believed to be responsible for the attack including one with a distinctive Mohawk haircut.
Police said the attackers had an argument with their victim in the booking hall at East Croydon.
The exchange of words continued as the five boarded the 2.40am service to Victoria.
DC John MacNaughton, investigating officer, said: “Suddenly the four men pushed the victim over and launched a brutal attack on him, punching and kicking him while two of the group stamped on him repeatedly.”
The group left the train when it terminated at Victoria, before exiting through the main entrance and onto the cab rank.
They were last captured on CCTV walking towards Buckingham Palace Road, just after 3am.
The 32-year-old victim was discovered by train staff, who called the London Ambulance Service.
Paramedics then took the victim to St Thomas Hospital in Lambeth, where he remained overnight. He was discharged on Monday, suffering multiple facial fractures.
DC MacNaughton said: "This was a brutal and callous attack on a man who had absolutely no chance of defending himself against four men.
“I am certain that someone will recognise the men pictured in the CCTV images and am calling on anyone who does, or the men themselves, to get in touch.
"Although these types of offence are rare, they are treated very seriously by investigators and we won’t rest until we have caught those responsible for this cowardly attack.”
