HEAVY snow is forecast for High Wycombe tonight as a school announces it will close tomorrow.

Staff at Stony Dean School in Amersham made the “regretful” decision today on Health and Safety grounds.

Up to six inches of snow has been forecast tonight and tomorrow, with the Met Office warning driving conditions will be difficult in the Chiltern district.

The Met Office’s latest predictions show light snow will fall from about 9pm with heavy snow from about midnight to 6am.

There will be a clear sky from 6am to about 9am with sunny intervals in the day, it says.

Wycombe residents again woke up to frost this morning. Light snow fell at about midday yesterday.

The same forecast is made for Amersham but with rain and snow later tomorrow.

Buckinghamshire County Council says it has 10,000 tonnes of gritting salt, enough for 20 days.

It was one of many councils to come under fire earlier this year when stocks ran low amid heavy snowfalls.
