AN EDMONTON school has received nearly £10,000 of lottery funds to form a community radio station.

Cuckoo Hall Primary School, in Cuckoo Hall Lane, was given a Big Lottery Fund grant of £9,495 to help set the station up.

It plans to involve members of the community in all aspects of the radio station through volunteering.

Edmonton MP Andy Love said he hoped to get involved in the project.

He added: “It’s great that Cuckoo Hall Primary School have come up with the idea of creating a community radio station, and that the Big Lottery Fund have rewarded their idea with a grant.

"It will be a really good opportunity for the pupils, as well as a good way of including the local community, and I look forward to getting involved.”

The funding came from the Big Lottery’s "Awards For All" programme, which offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that improve communities and the lives of people within them.

It is open to voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations, and local councils.
