A police chief inspector has left Hertfordshire Constabulary after 30 years.
Chief Inspector Nigel Brown, from Hemel Hempstead, is retiring to develop a career in teaching in the adult learning sector and will study at the University of Bedfordshire.
His lifetime commitment to the police runs in the family as two of his sons currently hold positions in the British Transport Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary.
Nigel began his career in Watford in community liaison and later moved to police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City.
He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Hertfordshire constabulary and working for the people of Hertfordshire.
“I will miss the people I have worked with and wish them all the best for the future.”
His posts have included Chief Inspector of road policing for the county and Chief Inspector of the custody and criminal justice policy unit.
Nigel and his wife Alison have four children, one girl and three boys, and are now planning to further their work with the Falconer Children’s Home and Orphanage in Zambia.
He added: “I am really looking forward to building on the charity work my wife and I have already begun in Zambia, and starting a new chapter in my life.”
Nigel is a member of Pointman UK, a charity working in 53 countries with police, prisons and government agencies, and is actively involved in Northchurch Baptist church.
