An icy combination of ballet, gymnastics and aerial aerobatics came to the New Wimbledon Theatre last week.
The Wimbledon Guardian team went down to the theatre in the Broadway last Wednesday ahead of the first performance of Snow White on Ice, performed by the Russian Ice Stars.
Vee Deplidge, producer of the show and a pioneer of the concept of theatre on ice, said: "I loved ballet and I loved ice skating and I thought that if you married the pair you would get the beauty and the grace of ballet with the excitement of being on ice.
"Everyone said it couldn't be done, that there wasn't enough room on a stage and skaters would need an Olympic-sized rink or they would only be able to skate in circles.
"But eventually I spoke to skaters and choreographers in Russia and found someone who said that if I was brave enough to pay for it, then they were brave enough to give it a go.”
The company included British champion skater, John Hamer, and the world’s tallest skater.
