JURORS have failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a High Wycombe man accused of murdering businessman Colin Butler.
The ten female and two male Reading Crown Court jurors were this evening discharged after telling Judge John Reddihough there was “no prospect of a decision” in the trial of 21-year-old Kieran Avery.
He had admitted beating 49-year-old Mr Butler to death outside his house in High Wycombe on October 24 last year, but he denied murder.
The prosecution will now decide whether to accept Avery's manslaughter plea or order a re-trial. A decision is expected on Monday.
