ENGLAND under-21 international goalkeeper Richard Lee went back to his old school today to help pupils with a biography project.

The Watford glovesman returned to Longwick CofE Combined School to answer questions and take part in a PE lesson.

Youngsters at the school researched his life – including an appearance on BBC show 'Dragon's Den' for his range of goalkeeping caps, and playing for the national side – before compiling a biography on the 27-year-old.

David Leith, the Walnut Tree Lane school's deputy head, said: “The Year 6 children were writing biographies as part of their literacy work. We contacted Richard and he emailed straight back to say yes.

“He's been on Dragon's Den, so he's done things outside of football. He's played for England under-21s and against Manchester United in an FA Cup semi-final. They're major events children have seen on TV so it helps make learning come alive.

“He had a fantastic way with children. When they were asking him questions he gave them a lot of time and answered in a way that gave them confidence.”

Mr Leith added: “The children have been looking forward to it and brought their own cameras and got his autograph.

“He even had a couple of proposals of marriage, which he handled very delicately.”
