Reusable bags filled with gadgets to help reduce food waste are being given away by Hertsmere Borough Council.
They contain things like bag clips to keep food fresh for longer, a recycled note pad and recipe ideas, to be given away in conjunction with the European Week of Waste Reduction.
Gemma Godfrey, recycling officer, said: "Whether it's buying too much food or cooking too much food we're all guilty of waste.
"But by making small changes to our habits we can all reduce the amount we throw away and save money at the same time.”
The Love Food Hate Waste campaign, set up to combat this problem, has contributed to a nationwide saving of almost £300 million.
Only 20 bags will be left in reception at the The Bushey Centre, High Street. For information about reducing food waste visit www.lovefoodhatewaste.com.
