THE next High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire will be the Countess Howe of Amersham.
The Countess was named as the new Sheriff in a nomination ceremony at London's High Court yesterday.
She will take up the role in March, taking over from current High Sheriff Allan Westray.
Yesterday's nomination ceremony is one of the oldest still practised in Britain, dating back to Saxon times.
Countess Howe was joined by 50 other dignitaries from every county in England and Wales.
