A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a Poppy Appeal collection box from a shop.
The man, who has not been named, was arrested on Wednesday after the theft at Stedmans General Stores, in Station Approach, Hampton, at 5pm on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman said a man and a woman went into the store and while the woman distracted the shopkeeper the man removed the box.
Witnesses report the box was cut from its stand and the incident was captured on CCTV.
The man has been bailed to return to Teddington police station on January 11.
