A St Albans student coxed a rowing team which beat a passenger ferry across the North Sea on Friday night.
Ruaridh MacPhee, part of a team from Newcastle University who manned two rowing machines on board a ferry to Amsterdam, told the Review: “We managed to beat the ferry. We completed the distance, 496 kilometres, in 14 hours and 24 minutes, an hour and six minutes ahead of the ferry.”
