A 53-YEAR-OLD woman has been found dead on a road in Chesham just hours after she had been released from police custody.
Police were called to Berkhampstead Road, Chesham, shortly before 7am yesterday after the body had been discovered by a passer-by.
Thames Valley Police have confirmed they have notified the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) of the incident, which is mandatory, after the woman had been in custody.
Ivestigating officer DCI Vince Grey said: “Although we are treating this death as unexplained, we currently do not believe it to be suspicious.
“However, as we are still trying to piece together what exactly happened, I am appealing for anyone who saw something suspicious along Berkhampstead Road in Chesham on Friday night or early on Saturday morning to come forward.”
The woman has yet to be formally identified and a post mortem is expected to be carried out in 'due course'.
