Pupils hit the catwalk and make recycling retro

AN ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly fashion show is being held by a group of Winchmore Hill pupils on Saturday.

Pupils at Eversley Primary School have made all the catwalk designs for their "Go Green" show out of scrap materials.

Everything from bin bags to old material and unwanted jewellery has been recycled to create a range of funky fashions.

The school suspended usual activities over three days in July to concentrate on making clothes for the show.

Deputy headteacher Hayley Kirkpatrick said: “Children, staff and parents worked together to create an exciting and innovative fashion show based on the themes of sustainability and recycling – and they have come up with fascinating ideas.”

Clothes designed by the children include hats, evening wear, street and customised clothing, and vintage period pieces from the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties retro.

Neil Rousell, Enfield co-director of education, children’s services and leisure, said: “It will be fascinating to see the children’s ideas transformed into fashion and it will be something that they will remember.

"I congratulate the school for its innovation and skill at involving all ages and all abilities.”

The fashion show will be held at the school, in Chaseville Park Road, on Saturday at 12pm to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm.
