THE Wycombe Conservative candidate for the next general election will be chosen today from the first ever mandatory 50/50 gender shortlist.
Wycombe Conservative Association yesterday refused to reveal the names of the six candidates who will face up to 300 party members at the final vote at Lane End Conference Centre.
Current MP Paul Goodman is stepping down at the next election, which has to be called by June next year, over his disillusionment with Parliament (see link, bottom of story).
Candidates will get around 30 minutes to address party members and take moderated questions from the floor from 2pm.
Party agent Sue Hynard said that only a small circle of people know who the candidates are as members had not yet been told.
See the Bucks Free Press this evening for news of the selected candidate.
Political commentators widely expect the Conservatives to hold the seat, which has only fallen out of Tory hands for seven years in the last century.
