Two youths charged with Thornton Heath murder


A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with the murder of a Tamil student in Croydon.

Jegir Ali Ahmmadi, 19, of Morland Road, Croydon will be appearing in custody at Croydon Magistrates' Court tomorrow charged of the murder of 24-year-old Saravanakumar Sellappan in Thornton Heath on 17 October.

Also appearing in custody is a 17-year-old youth who is also accused of Mr Sellappan's murder.

Both youths are also charged with robbery.

Mr Sellappan was assaulted during a robbery on Saturday in the Brigstock Road area.

Early on Sunday morning, ambulances were called to a home nearby where they found Mr Sellappan suffering serious head injuries.

He was rushed to hospital, where he died from his injuries on Monday, October 19.

A post mortem held on Wednesday October 21 gave the cause of death as a head injury.
